Trace and paint
Lay the glass over the print, outline with stained glass paint, then fill the shapes with glass paint or watercolor.
One design, five ways to paint it
Paint the blank outline in your own colors, or print one of four ready color versions and follow it like a map.
Clean lines, made to be traced
Every shape is closed, so paint stays where it belongs. Drag the slider to see the outline and its color guide.
- A picture frame with glass, 8.5x11 in or larger
- Black stained glass paint or liner for the outline
- Glass paint or watercolor to fill the shapes
- A thin brush and a toothpick for small corners
Paint tip: trace the outline with stained glass paint or liner. Fill with glass paint for a see-through glow, or watercolor for richer color - use little water so it dries faster.
Made by your hands, lit by the sun
Every template is tested on real glass before it goes in the shop. Hang it in a window, set it on a shelf, or give it as a wedding or anniversary gift - it looks like stained glass and costs a fraction of it.
Questions
Is this a physical product?
No. You get a digital file to print at home or at a print shop. Nothing is shipped.
How do I add my names and date?
Your download includes a Canva link. Open it, type your names and date over the sample text, and download the page. A free Canva account is enough.
Why do I need to mirror the print?
You paint on the back of the glass and people look at it from the front. Mirroring makes the words read correctly once the glass is in the frame. It takes less than a minute - here is how.
What is the difference between the blank and color versions?
The blank outline is for painting in your own colors. The four color versions work like a paint-by-number map: print one in color, lay the glass on top and follow the colors.
What size is the template?
Templates are designed at 8.5 x 11 in (US Letter). The lines are vector, so a print shop can scale the file up for larger frames without losing sharpness.
What paint should I use?
Trace the outline with stained glass paint or liner - this part needs it. For the fill, use glass paint for a see-through glow, or watercolor for richer color. With watercolor, use little water so it dries faster.
